Moving out of the dorms? Two semesters is more than enough time to pack all sorts of debris intoà a college dorm room. Here are some expert tips to make the process a little easier. 10 Tips for Moving out of a Dorm Room Spring Cleaning:à Encourage the notion of a pre-spring break cleaning. Doing a trash purge just before spring break means that much less garbage to deal with on the last day of school. You know your child will bring home bags of dirty laundry, but if weather permits, have him bring home any winter clothing, boots and/or flannel sheets that he doesnt still need at school.Divide and Conquer: If your child is coming home at any time before the end of the second semester, or you are going to visit him, take an empty duffel bag or two and start packing up winter clothing and any other non-essentials. Every bag you can get out of the room early is a bag you wonââ¬â¢t have to deal with on the last day of school.Consider Summer Storage: If your childs dorm room has accumulated a lot of possessions - hes purchased a mini-fridge, for example, or youve traded in the Suburban for a Prius - you may want to consider a summer storage option. Store bulky possessions at a self-storage place near campus and you wont have to move it back next fall either. Most self-storage places take reservations, so youll want to reserve a unit 30 days ahead.Purge the Fridge, Dump the Trash: Have your child empty his refrigerator as soon as his last final is over, and start taking trash to the dumpsters. Wait till the day the dorms close and those dumpsters will be full.Sell the Books: Encourage your child to assess his textbooks and sell back anything he no longer needs. English lit books - Canterbury Tales, for example, and 1984 - can be used by siblings or friends forever, but genetics textbooks become obsolete very quickly. Sell them to the campus bookstore, via Amazon or Craigslist or through a textbook rental company such as Chegg.com, where, for example, an excellent condition, Organic Chemistry textbook that retails for $156 can be sold back for $81 or traded in for $89 in Chegg Dollars - which can be used, in turn, to rent next years textbooks. And Chegg pays the postage. Any of t hose options are preferable to lugging heavy books home to rot in your garage.Bring Supplies: It is easier to pack a car with regularly shaped objects ââ¬â boxes or large Rubbermaid bins - as opposed to black plastic trash bags, grocery bags, and loose items. So bring packing boxes, rolls of packing tape, a roll of paper towels, a bottle of cleaning fluid, and a few trash bags for actual trash. Wear grubbies. Bring bottles of water and granola bars.Empty and Load: Time for the move! Empty all drawers, desks, cupboards and closets. Check the area under the bed and atop tall pieces of furniture. Pack boxes and tubs as neatly as possible, so they hold as much as possible. Dont mix dirty laundry into boxes of clean contents. Take water breaks, watch your back, and clean as you go. Use the corridor as a staging ground, stacking each packed box neatly against the wall until youre ready to make a trip down to the car.Consider Donations: You may find there are some items that you and yo ur child will be willing to part with if space doesnââ¬â¢t permit them aboard ââ¬â rugs, for example, or oddly shaped, relatively inexpensive items, such as electric fans or lamps. So many items of this sort get thrown away on the move-out day, some schools have started setting up separate dumpster areas so those items can be salvaged and donated. If your childs school does not have such plans, consider doing a Goodwill or thrift store run before packing for home.Pack Em Up, Move Em Out, Rawhide: If you have lined up summer storage space, either in campus housing or off-campus, move those items first. Then enlist all your Tetris skills and start loading your car with everything thatââ¬â¢s coming home. Save soft items ââ¬â blankets, bedding, and overcoats ââ¬â to stuff into nooks and crannies and pad fragile items.Final Sweep: When the room is completely empty, do one last drawer and cupboard check. Check the restroom too, if your child has a toiletry cupboard there . Sweep out the dorm room and mop off any obvious grunge. Unplug the mini-fridge and arrange for pickup. Pull out the dorm checklist the university gave you last fall, the one that lists existing damage, and go over it with an R.A. so your child can check out. One last potty stop, hugs all around and youââ¬â¢re off! Now the only problem is, where to put all that stuff when you get back home...

Critique of The Play Foxfire *Works Cited Not Included The play I saw was called Foxfire. This play was about an old woman named Annie Nations who lived in Raybun County, Georgia. Her husband Hector had died five years earlier leaving her alone in their home in the mountains. However, she did not feel alone because she still saw Hector and spoke to him. Their son Dillard had long been trying to persuade her to come live with him in Florida. Prince Carpenter was a real estate agent who wanted to buy her hundreds of acres of land for 100 thousand dollars, but could not convince her to sell. She eventually must choose to either leave the home she had know for so many years to go live with her son and grandchildren or to stay thereâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦If I had not been blessed with a sufficient amount of sleep the night before, I may not of stayed awake to see the ending. I think that Annie would have been happier if she could have stayed in the mountains with Hector for the rest of her life, whether he was actually there or not. She is an old woman. Why start a new beginning and a life somewhere else when she is perfectly content where she is? Let her finish her life where she is happiest. The setting with the log cabin and mountains were very believable. The pigs head and the black juice that squirted out looked very real. They definitely brought me into the world of the play. However, I was surprised when I discovered that this play took place in 1982. Hectors costume was more believable as an outfit from 1982 than Annies which looked to me like she was somewhere in 1882. At first, I thought Holly was a little girl in a school dress. She looked as if she was supposed to be much younger and I thought that she was a young girl until it was brought to my attention that she was a schoolteacher. The one part that had me confused for about five whole minutes was the part where Annie was having a baby. She still had her gray hair, her old woman costume, and she was still thin. I heard them talking on stage about the baby coming and I did not know who was pregnant. I kept trying to figure out who was

Question: Prepare a Report that prioritises, analyses and evaluates the issues facing the board of SR, based on the issues highlighted in this scenario. Answer: Introduction The companies operating in Oil and Gas sector have to operate under certain financial, legal and societal constraints. It is important that organizations operating in this sector should have long-term plan of operations and development. The success of companies operating in this sector would depend on the existing oil and gas reserves and on the new licenses for oil and gas. The companies operating in this sector would require good cash reserve to keep growing (Carmichael, 2001). It is also important that the management of the company should take all the stakeholders together to make important decisions about the company. As mentioned in the case study SR has won the right to test drill on three different fields (Edwina, Felicity and Georgia). This appears to be a good news for the company and in fact, this news increased the stock price of SR. However, Charles Lincoln is worried about the future operations of the company. The company has been awarded new licenses but it appears that it lacks the financial to operate the three sites. The existing sites of the company has also limited oil and gas reserves. Charles Lincoln is engulfed among lot of issues such as outsourcer problem, pressure from environmental organization, internal organizational problem. He wants to focus on the long-term plan of the company. The objective of this paper is to discs the various challenges faced by SR Limited for discussion at Board level. This paper would discuss the various issues surrounding SR and some recommendations would be made. Analysis SR Company has been a matured player in oil and gas exploration and production industry (EP). The company is headed by Charles Lincoln who has always focused on growth and development. Recently, company has got the license to dig into three new fields. It is a very good opportunity for SR. Therefore, it is important that company should be in a position to handle all its internal and external issues. One of the most important consideration for SR is the cash consideration. The company is required to acknowledge the license of three new fields within 2 weeks and CFO of the company is on leave. Charles Lincoln is not sure that how much money company can gather. A joint venture or a farm out offer with other company called Drill Well is an option. It is important that management must analyze the pros and cons of all the options before making any decision. The immediate issues for SR can be discussed as: Underlying issues for the company From the case study, it can be inferred that SR is surrounded by both internal and external issues. These internal and external issues for SR can be discussed as: Farm out offer with Drill Well (DW) Charles Lincoln is aware of the fact that regardless of the decision whether to test drill all three sites the SR board is clear that SR will lack the financial capacity, and the managerial and productive capacity to bring all three wells into production. Therefore, Charles Lincoln wants to have a farm offer with Drill Well. Under this offer, some of the money would come from DW. However, the deal with DW does not appear to be a smooth deal. DW has come up with its own terms and conditions for the deal. DW has offered the option payment at this moment but in return, it wants the right but not an obligation to extract oil and gas from the field. It can be said that the terms and conditions of the deal does not make this deal a very attractive deal for SR. However, Charles Lincoln has limited options and it appears that the company must deal with DW so that its financial condition and cash reserves can be improved. This issue is an internal issue for the company and company must discus s it internally to reach a consensus. Environmental problems, Protest by CareGreen Parties This issue is an external issue for the company. This issue exists not only for SR but also for other companies operating in this sector. The SR head office was targeted last week by a protest about the use of finite fossil fuels. This was a coordinated attack against the industry rather than SR alone. It can be said that this issue is not very serious for the company at this moment. However, management must be cautious of any such issues because it can result in bad reputation for the company and this would be the last thing that company would want when it has plan to expand for three more oil fields. This issue could also have an impact on the share price of the company. Outsourcing issue The companies operating in oil and gas sector would typically outsource the production work to external vendors. SR also has the partnership with different vendors that perform the production work for the company. BoringHolesUK Limited is one of the chosen outsourcer at the Apache field and has been working with SR from the start. They have a good reputation and have always worked well within SRs and industry regulations. Recently, there has been political and military unrest in this farm field. As a result, several employees of BoringHolesUK Limited has left the job. It appears that this company is under serious resource crunch to do the tasks. SR has the policy to have frequent check of the operations of BoringHolesUK Limited. In one of the recent audit, some irregularity was surfaced in the control log record. Some employee of the company was making forged signature of an employee who has left the company couple of months back. This is an alarming issue for SR and it is expected t hat SR would have a system of check and balances on all its partners and outsourcing vendors. SRs long-term future One of an important issue for the company is about the sustainability of its existing fossil fuels reserves. The existing reserves of the company would only last for another 7 years. The company does not have any Plan B for the future and it is a serious issue for the company. This is also an internal issue for the company. However, a thought leadership and strategic thinking would be required to resolve this issue. Some radical changes in the organization and operations and some hard decisions could also be required to bring SR on sustainable path. The issues discussed above are critical from operations point of view. It is very important that SR must have the plan to overcome all the issues. Some of the issues and internal in nature that could be managed with internal discussion. While, some of the issues are external in nature. For external issues, SR must tie up with partners and competitors. Some of the recommendations for SR can be discussed as: Recommendations The first and most important recommendation for SR is that it must focus on sustainable development. The company must have a vision and long-term plan. The management of the company should be clear as where they see the company five years down the line, ten years down the line and beyond. It is also important that the vision and plan of the company should be shared with all the stakeholders. In fact, in order to develop long-term plan and vision, SR must take inputs from all the stakeholders of the organization. It would include both internal and external stakeholders. The companies operating in this sector would usually operate in Business-to-Business models. Therefore, most of the customers of SR would be business entities. It is recommended that SR should also take the input from its customers in order to develop a sustainability strategy. As discussed above, the company is dependent on its outsourcing vendors like BoringHolesUK Limited. It is recommended that SR should have a strong system of audit for its outsourcing vendors. In the current environment, SR does have the provision of spot-checking and periodic checking. However, it appears that the current system is not strong enough. It is recommended that SR must focus to increase its control system on its outsourcing partners. One of the ways to achieve this would be to have more than one outsourcing vendors. It is recommended that SR should have a pool of outsourcing vendors. The company should have a rating system wherein it would rate the performance of its outsourcing partners. In fact, the payment and rewards for the outsourcing vendors would also depend on the way these companies performs. This would in turn motivate outsourcing vendors to perform well. In addition, SR could also have the provision of external inspection wherein the Audit team would visit its outsourcing vendors. The issue of environmental organization should also be given due importance. It is important that the management of SR should have the strategy to deal with environmental issues also. It is recommended that SR should increase its consideration for social corporate responsibility. It would be good if SR can portray itself as an environment friendly firm. It is recommended that SR should also invest in certain programs around environment and CSR. The objective of the company should be to join hands with environmental organizations and to realize them that the company is working to increase the energy resources that is the requirement of entire world. It is recommended that SR should establish a dedicate function of Corporate Social Responsibility within the organization. The objective of this function would be to work with environmentalists for a sustainable and green future. Conclusion The above paper discussed the various issues facing SR. With the above discussion, it can be said that SR is surrounded by certain serious issues. However, a planned approach and a holistic understanding of the future can help company to overcome these issues (Mukherjeea, 2010). The first step for the company would be to have the strategy for internal and external issues. It is also important that company should realize that it couldnt solve all the issues on itself. There are certain external issues that could be solved only with a partnership with competitors and other industry players. The company must also focus on CSR issues. SR should have and should promote only green operations. It would ensure that company has the trust and respect of environmental organizations and society. It is also important that company should have both short-term plans and long term plans to address the issues. The management of the company should formulate the plans with a thorough discussion with all the stakeholders of the company. References Carmichael, L. Petition for Admission Petition letters are also used when an applicant wants to take admission in a particular university. The applicants have to submit the petition along with other necessary documentation and express their reasons why they want to go for this particular program. How to Use the STDEV.S Function in Excel The standard deviation is a descriptive statistic that tells us about the dispersion- or spread- of a set of data. Just like using many other formulas in statistics, the calculation of a standard deviation is a fairly tedious process to do by hand. Fortunately, statistical software speeds up this calculation considerably. Statistical Software There are many software packages that do statistical calculations, but one of the most readily accessible programs is Microsoft Excel. Although we could use a step-by-step process using the formula for a standard deviation for our calculation, it is possible to complete this calculation using one Excel function. Populations and Samples Before moving on to the specific commands used to calculate a standard deviation, it is important to distinguish between a population and a sample. A population is the set of every individual being studied. A sample is a subset of a population. The difference between these two concepts means the difference in how a standard deviation is calculated. Standard Deviation in Excel To use Excel to determine the sample standard deviation of a set of quantitative data, type these numbers into a group of adjacent cells in a spreadsheet. In an empty cell type what is in the quotation marks STDEV.S(à ââ¬â¹Following this type the location of the cells where the data is and then close the parentheses with ââ¬â¹). This can alternatively be done by use of the following procedure. If our data is located in cells A2 to A10, then (omitting the quotation marks) STDEV.S(A2:A10) will obtain the sample standard deviation of the entries in cells A2 to A10. Rather than typing the location of the cells where our data is located, we can use a different method. This involves typing the first half of the formula STDEV.S(, and clicking on the first cell where the data is located. A colored box will appear around the cell that we have selected. We then drag the mouse until we have selected all of the cells that contain our data. We finish this by closing the parentheses. Cautions There a few cautions that must be made in using Excel for this calculation. We need to make sure that we do not mix up out functions. The Excel formula STDEV.S closely resembles STDEV.P. The former is typically the necessary formula for our calculations, as it is used when our data is a sample from a population. In the event that our data constitutes the entire population being studied, then we would want to use STDEV.P. Another thing that we must be careful about concerns the number of data values. Excel is limited by the number of values that can be entered into the standard deviation function. All of the cells that we use for our calculation must be numerical. We must be sure that error cells and cells with text in them are not entered into the standard deviation formula.

Christianity - Research Paper Example Irenaeus had stated that there was only one God. But the question that how can Christ be worshiped as God, his relation with Father, difference between Christianity and Judaism etc started coming up. The Asian Christians of Rome believed that ââ¬Å"Christ was the Father himself and the Father himself was born, suffered and died.â⬠Roman Christians were not in favour of this view. North Africans did not believe in the Universalist ideas regarding the church in Rome, but were followers of absolute purity of church as well as integrity of membership. They considered baptism by water to be a mere prelude to the real baptism of blood. They thought these members to be Spirits who were impatiently awaiting the end of their physical life. Agape meal was described as a simple meal which benefited the less fortunate and was coupled with hymn, reading of the Holy Scripture and prayers. It was beneficial because it implanted love among Christians and made them morally stronger. The special practices during baptism (renouncing the devil, a threefold immersion, having milk and honey afterwards and not taking a bath for a week to follow), thanksgiving (accepted prior to daybreak) and worship (using cross sign and not kneeling on Sundays). From the 38 surviving pieces of Tertullianââ¬â¢s work, little has been learnt regarding his life. But going by Jeromeââ¬â¢s evidence, he was ââ¬Å"the son of a centurion in the proconsulââ¬â¢s guardâ⬠and had a very ââ¬Å"sharp and violent talentâ⬠.... But going by Jeromeââ¬â¢s evidence, he was ââ¬Å"the son of a centurion in the proconsulââ¬â¢s guardâ⬠and had a very ââ¬Å"sharp and violent talentâ⬠. (Frend, 348) Tertullian had drifted towards Montanism because of the ill treatment that was extended to the clergy in the Roman churches. He had died in an old age. Owing to his deep knowledge of the pagan literature and Stoicism, he did not act as a bridge between Athens and Jerusalem. In fact, he tried to establish a clearer difference between the two.
